American Black Bear (Ursus americanus)
With an estimated population of 1800 American Black Bears, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the Eastern United States’ largest protected bear habitat. In the park, bears may be seen from early March to late fall. Please respect the bear’s habitat and read, understand, and follow all park guidelines regarding food storage and bear encounters.
Thank you very much Nikki! :-)
